San Raffaele International MD 2027: score and ranking
No fixed pass mark: in 2026/27 the last EU place went at 41.00/60 and the last non-EU at 48.75. Scoring, separate rankings and what to aim for.
There is no fixed pass mark for the San Raffaele International MD. What decides admission is your position in the UniSR ranking for your group, EU or non-EU, compared with the number of places. In 2026/27 the last EU place (position 86) went to a score of 41.00 out of 60, and the last non-EU place (position 64) to 48.75.
Those cut-offs are not a target set by the university: they are the result of how everyone else performed that year, and they will move in 2027. Below we explain how the score is calculated, how the two rankings work, and what the 2026/27 numbers tell you about the score to aim for.
How the test is scored
In 2026/27 the test had 60 questions, all in English: 36 on logical reasoning, problem solving and reading comprehension, and 24 on science (biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics). Scoring works like this:
| Answer | Points |
|---|---|
| Correct | +1 |
| Wrong | -0.25 |
| Left blank | 0 |
The maximum is 60. After the time limit there are 7 extra questions that do not count towards your score.
The penalty matters: four wrong answers cancel one correct answer. Guessing blindly on a lot of questions can cost you more than it gives back, while an educated guess after ruling out some options is often worth it.
This structure is specific to the International MD. San Raffaele's Italian-language Medicine test is a different test, with its own scoring and ranking.
Two sessions, the best result counts
In 2026/27 there were two online sessions for each group:
- EU candidates: 14 February and 14 March 2026
- Non-EU candidates: 11 February and 4 March 2026
You could sit both, and only your best result went into the ranking. A weak first session is not the end: you get a second attempt within the same fee.
Is there a minimum score?
Not as a fixed threshold. The 2026/27 data do not show a pass mark: candidates are ranked by score and places are given in order until each contingent is full. The only score that matters in practice is the one at the last place of your group's quota.

Two separate rankings: EU and non-EU
The EU and non-EU contingents have separate rankings that never merge. You only compete with candidates in your own group.
| 2026/27 | EU candidates | Non-EU candidates |
|---|---|---|
| Places | 86 | 64 |
| Candidates in the ranking | 360 | 391 |
| Score at the last place of the quota (final ranking: position 86 EU, 64 non-EU) | 41.00 | 48.75 |
The non-EU ranking was the more competitive one: more candidates for fewer places, roughly 6 per place against about 4 per place in the EU group. That is why the non-EU cut-off was almost 8 points higher. These scores mark the last place of each quota in the final ranking; they are not necessarily the score of the last student who enrolled, because places freed after the ranking are reassigned in order.
What score should you aim for in 2027?
The 2027 cut-offs will depend on the number of places and on how strong the other candidates are, so no one can tell you the exact figure in advance. The 2026/27 numbers still give you a realistic reference.
To see what those scores mean in answers, here are two combinations on 60 questions:
- 41.00 points: 44 correct, 12 wrong, 4 blank
- 48.75 points: 51 correct, 9 wrong, 0 blank
A sensible goal is to finish your practice tests consistently above last year's cut-off for your group, with a margin of a few points, rather than just touching it.
When are the rankings published?
The 2027/28 call, expected in mid-December 2026, will give the dates. As a rule, rankings come out between March and June, after both test sessions. Each group's ranking is published separately on the official UniSR pages.
What happens after the ranking?
Candidates within the number of places must complete the enrolment steps by the deadlines in the call. The call also sets the tie-break rules and how places left vacant are reassigned to the next candidates in the ranking. We will add the 2027/28 rules here once the call is out; until then, the call for your group is the reference.
How to prepare to rank higher
Since admission depends on your position and not on a pass mark, the goal is to score as high as you can in 80 minutes, not just to get past a line. UniSR does not publish past papers for this test, so the most reliable way to measure yourself is to practise in the real format: 60 questions, 80 minutes, the same scoring.
