Applications for the San Raffaele International MD 2027 (admission to the 2027/28 academic year) are not open yet. As of 24 October 2026, Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele has not published the new call for admission. It usually comes out in mid-December, on the university's online notice board (Albo).

Until then, the 2026/27 cycle is the best guide to what to expect: registration opened on 17 December 2025 and closed on 6 February 2026 for EU candidates and on 5 February 2026 for non-EU candidates. The fee was €200 and covered two online test sessions taken from home. Below we go through the process step by step, keeping the EU and non-EU tracks separate, because they really are two different calls.

Is this the same as the San Raffaele Medicine test in Italian?

No. San Raffaele also runs a Medicine and Surgery degree taught in Italian, with its own call, its own test and its own ranking; this guide covers only the English-taught International MD Program.

When do applications open for 2027/28?

The exact dates are not known yet. They will be in the 2027/28 call, expected in mid-December 2026. For reference, this is how the 2026/27 cycle worked:

2026/27 cycleEU candidatesNon-EU candidates

Second test session14 March 20264 March 2026

Two things stand out. The non-EU deadline was one day earlier than the EU one, and the non-EU sessions came first. Do not assume the two tracks share a calendar: check the call for your group.

We will update this page with the 2027/28 dates as soon as the call is published.

EU or non-EU: which call is yours?

There are two separate calls and two separate contingents. In 2026/27 there were 150 places in total: 86 for EU candidates and 64 for non-EU candidates. Each group has its own deadlines, its own test dates and its own ranking list, so you compete only against candidates in your group.

The call defines exactly who falls into each category. If you are not sure where you belong (for example, because of dual citizenship or residence), read that part of the call before you register.

English certificate for enrolment. To enrol after admission you need an official English language certificate at level C1 of the CEFR (2026/27 call for EU candidates, general information). Get it, or plan for it, early: it is required to enrol, not to sit the test.

How to apply step by step

Based on how the 2026/27 cycle worked, the process looks like this:

  1. Wait for the 2027/28 call and download the version for your group (EU or non-EU) from the official unisr.it pages.
  2. Read it in full: admission requirements, deadlines, test rules and technical requirements for the online test.
  3. Register online within the registration window.
  4. Pay the application fee (€200 in 2026/27) before the deadline.
  5. Get your home setup ready for the remotely proctored online test.
  6. Sit one or both test sessions. Only your best result counts.

The call is the only document that sets the procedure. If anything on this page differs from the 2027/28 call, the call wins.

How much does it cost to apply?

In 2026/27 the fee was €200, and it covered both test sessions. The 2027/28 amount will be confirmed in the new call. For costs after admission, see our guide on fees and the university.

How the test works once you are registered

The International MD test is different from the Italian-language one. In 2026/27 it had:

  • 60 questions, all in English
  • 36 on logical reasoning, problem solving and reading comprehension
  • 24 on science (biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics), with no fixed split between subjects
  • 80 minutes
  • +1 for a correct answer, -0.25 for a wrong one, 0 if left blank
  • 7 extra questions after the time limit, which do not count towards the score

The test is taken online from home, with remote supervision run by an external provider, Selexi S.r.l. The questions come from a UniSR question bank.

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. Registering under the wrong call. EU and non-EU are separate procedures.
  2. Preparing for the wrong test. The Italian-language test has a different structure, so material for one does not fit the other.
  3. Missing the deadline for your group. In 2026/27 the non-EU window closed a day before the EU one.
  4. Leaving the technical checks to the last minute. The test runs at home under remote proctoring, so read the technical rules in the call early.
  5. Skipping the second session. The fee covered both sessions and only the best result counts, so the second one is a free second attempt.

What happens after the test

Each group gets its own ranking list. Rankings are usually published between March and June. Places go to candidates in ranking order until each contingent is full. The steps and deadlines to enrol after admission are set in the call, so check them as soon as the 2027/28 call is out.

Preparing while you wait for the call

The registration itself is paperwork. The test is where places are won or lost, and you do not need to wait for December to start.

UniSR does not publish past papers for this test, so the most useful thing you can do is practise on questions in the same format and under the same time limit. Practise with the TestBuddy simulator for the San Raffaele International MD test: 60 questions, 80 minutes and the same +1, -0.25, 0 scoring, so you know where you stand before you register.
