For the academic year 2027/28, the test is scheduled for 17 March 2027, with possible additional sessions on 18 March 2027, as stated in the official call. It is taken from home, with remote proctoring.

There are no alternative admission routes. The ranking is determined exclusively by the test score.

What is new for 2027

Structure of the test and official syllabus

The test consists of 65 multiple choice questions, each with 5 answer options.

The subject areas are:

7. Ethical and religious culture

The total duration is 65 minutes.

There are also 7 reserve questions, which are used only if some of the main questions are annulled.

Scoring system, ranking and results

The scoring system is straightforward.

Each correct answer is worth 1 point.
Each incorrect answer results in -0.25 points.
Unanswered questions receive 0 points.

The maximum possible score is 65 points.

To be included in the ranking, candidates must score at least 20 points.

Admitted students who answer correctly fewer than 4 of 18 biology, 2 of 12 chemistry, 1 of 4 physics or 1 of 4 mathematics questions are given additional learning requirements to complete during the first year.

Separate rankings are published for:

European Union candidates
Non European Union candidates residing abroad

Individual results with the score obtained are published before the final rankings, according to the official calendar.

In case of a tie, the criteria established in the admission call apply.

Costs of the test and tuition fees

The application fee for the entrance test is 210 euros.

The annual tuition fee for Medicine and Surgery in Rome is €18,150, a fixed fee for all students; the University notes that it may change in following years.

During pre enrolment, an initial instalment must be paid within the deadlines specified in the official calendar.

Failure to respect payment deadlines results in exclusion or loss of the assigned place.

How to apply for the 2027 test

The application window for the 2027 test runs from 14 October 2026 to 23:59 on 17 February 2027.

Registration is completed exclusively online through the official university portal.

The application is valid only after:

Completion of the online form
Submission of required documents
Payment of the 210 euro fee

If any of these steps are not completed by 17 February 2027, the application is not accepted.

Official simulations and practice material

After payment of the application fee, the university provides access to an official online simulator containing approximately 3000 questions used in previous years.

The actual test questions will not be taken from this simulator, but it is a valuable tool to understand the format and level of difficulty.

Training under real exam conditions for 65 minutes and learning to manage the -0.25 penalty is essential.
